UNITED FOOD BANK!
The United Food Bank's Christmas in July Food Drive challenge kicked off June 7th and runs through July 31st. Anyone can participate. The business that collects the most food per employee will win a holiday party!
The summer months are a slow time for food donations. Yet, agencies are reporting a 69% increase in requests for food boxes. Requests for food that United Food Bank is unable to fill, due to lack of food, have increased more than 40% over last year.
To help stock the shelves, United Food Bank is holding its 4th annual Christmas in July Food Drive Competition. Apache Junction, Chandler, Gilbert, Mesa and Tempe chambers of commerce are rallying their membership to hold food drives. BJ’s Restaurant & Brewhouse helped to kick off the competition with a party where folks signed up to hold food drives! Businesses do not have to be chamber members to participate.
United Food Bank is a community-based private nonprofit that provides hunger relief/food assistance by collecting, acquiring, storing and distributing food and related commodities through a network of partner social services agencies in eastern Maricopa County, Gila and Pinal Counties and southern Apache and Navajo Counties.
