KEZ is looking for a Digital Content Creator/Morning Show Senior Producer. Qualified applicants must have the following skills: Great writing skills - fast and accurate, with excellent spelling and grammar. Must be able to quickly create compelling written content in a conversational voice; Strong radio technical skills - Able to run a real-time radio control board during a personality driven Morning Show, while accessing web, printed and audio content, and preparing it for air. Must also be highly skilled in digital audio production, able to create multi-track production pieces quickly and prepare them for air. Multi-tasking an absolute imperative; Broadcast-quality voice skills - Must be able to contribute on the air in a likable, informative and conversational way, but also when required, an authoritative informative way. Must be equally comfortable presenting intelligent opinions as well as information about news, lifestyle and entertainment subjects.
Applicants must have excellent: Creativity - Must be able to look at web, audio and print content prep and see multiple creative opportunities, then be able to package it for air. Must have the ability to create content in a number of voices, for different members of the show, in addition to you; Guest Booking and Management - Able to seek out, approach and book compelling guests for the show, managing each appearance completely so the guest knows exactly when to be in a position to be on the show, whether they’re appearing in person or by phone. When guests are in-studio, manage their arrival and make sure they are comfortable and prepared for their appearance on the show. The successful candidate will be creative and proactive when looking for guests, and relentless in their efforts to book guests the host wants. Must be constantly aware of potential guests who might be a good fit for the show based on their current public profile and/or their presence in Phoenix. There should never be a major high-profile celebrity that passes through the Valley without the person in this position knowing about it, evaluating and/or discussing the celebrity’s possible appearance on the show. Extremely high situational awareness essential; Photo Selection and Editing - Must be able to find appropriate photos and edit, resize, crop or otherwise prepare them for use on the web and on social media. Experience with Photoshop or Photoshop Elements important; Listener Relations - Must be able to answer the phones, quickly deciding if callers can contribute to the current or future segments, and if not, dispensing with them in such a way that they feel appreciated for listening. If they can be of use, it’s important to quickly process and prepare them for use on the show, communicating the necessary details about their call to the studio; Contest Logistics - Must be able to handle the paperwork necessary to the executing of contesting, answering phones, screening contestants, and completing the paperwork when a listener wins, either on the air or on the web. Must be comfortable working closely with Promotions to smoothly execute the contests, and help with fulfillment of the prizes. Must be experienced with Microsoft Word, Excel and Powerpoint, as well as online web-based applications; Social Media - Successful candidate must possess advanced skills with Social Media, including, but not limited to blogging, Facebook, and Twitter. Must be able to post important information quickly and accurately with very little notice, often while engaged in other tasks. Again, good multi-tasking abilities are essential; Collaboration - Successful candidate will have strong interpersonal skills, and will thrive in an environment where working with the different departments and personalities around the enterprise, including other Morning Show team members, Programming staff, Promotional support staff, Sales, Digital and Executive teams. The candidate must have a solid knowledge base about how each of these teams operate, and must be highly motivated to understand them in even greater depth, since this is a job uniquely positioned at the hub of all of these departments in their relationship with the Morning Show. Excelling in this position will mean breaking down as many walls and barriers to communication and helping foster collaboration among them.
Daily Expectations include but are not limited to: Arrive at station at least 90 minutes prior to air time to finalize the preparations for the day’s show, making any necessary changes in the plan to reflect any relevant events that have transpired since the day before; During the show, manage any guests appearing on the show, while effectively and efficiently handling telephone callers; Be available to, in a timely manner, obtain information required by the host, including breaking news, service elements (weather, traffic), and audio. Prepare these elements for broadcast; Communicate and coordinate with Fox 10 TV to produce and air on-camera cut-ins as many times as the host and Fox 10 desire; During the show, post relevant content to the web, working ahead to have the content prepared as much as possible, so when the time comes to post, if possible, it can be simply a copy/paste operation. Having as much content produced in advance will make it possible to be more flexible when it’s necessary to post unexpected and timely content; After the show, quickly and efficiently recap and debrief the day’s show, identifying anything requiring attention to improve, then discuss what preparations are being made for the next show, and if relevant, other future shows. Get direction from host about both short and long-term plans; With clear direction from host, work on guest bookings and content preparation for future shows, with priority given to the next day’s show; With clear direction from the host, prepare content for immediate and later posting to the website. Content could include links, news articles, photos, podcasts and other forms of digital content; With clear direction from the Program Director and Promotions Director, be available to create content for sections of the website that don’t relate directly to the Morning Show, including content for websites and social media platforms not directly associated with KESZ; Before leaving for the day, prepare a tentative planning grid for the next day’s show, and communicate that information to the other team members as is appropriate; While away from the station, always be aware of events that could be relevant to the show and station’s audience, as well as the other stations and digital platforms associated with Clear Channel / Phoenix.
